Well, my my.
Here we have a classic case of the pot calling the kettle
black!
People who spread hate and attack other people's religions
and philosophies are "evil", not SGI, which is about world
peace and enlightenment, the flowering of individual
expression, equality and tolerance, appreciation for
diversity and understanding the value of life itself. We're
about taking responsibility for our circumstances and not
blaming others. Apparently the fanatic above wants to heap
blame on our Buddhist organization. As a Jew, I'm not a
stranger to being made the scapegoat via religious
discrimination. I'm just sorry that it has to rear its ugly
head on my web site which is dedicated to peace & music. I
pray that the tortured soul above finds peace in the new
millennium. It's time to bury all of the axes. Perhaps he or
she needs to listen to more music instead of foolish
propaganda. Honestly, I wish there was some way we could
leave all of the fanatical hate mongers back in the old
millennium and bring only the kind and pure-hearted peace
loving folks into this one. Happy New Year everyone!! (My
advice to "Cult Watcher": Take 2 CDs and don't call anyone
in the morning!) |

I have always
been enthralled by the music of Essra Mohawk, particularly
Primordial Lovers.I lost touch with her music for thirty
years, but her music remained with me. After all this time,
here I am typing in her guestbook. Her greatest
accomplishment to me personally, is that she has a place
inside of me forever. All of her other accomplishments, as
shown and heard on her websites, speak for themselves very
well.

Essra,
as a child growing up in the 1970's, i heard your voice
carried on the television airwaves as part of schoolhouse

Nowhere near as deep as my appreciation for Essra, one of
the wisest and most wonderful souls I have ever known. Her
music is more than just moving -- it's evolutionary,
offering a much-needed glimmer of inspiration amid a sea of
angst-ridden monotony. Keep up the amazing work, Essra, and
always keep your feet planted firmly on the ground. On

The British edition of "Pocohontas" (as you so fittingly put
it) is on "Mooncrest" Records. Apparently, Mooncrest had the
UK distribution deal for that album, while Elektra/Asylum
had the US rights. (The Mooncrest logo..... on the sticker
which is on the center of the actual "record" sides..... is
very, very cool.) Snap up that album, whoever does not have
it. It is definitely in the top 2, along with "Primordial
Lovers." Happy Independence Day, folks. -------Chuck |

July 5th.... a
very significant day for me...
First, it's my mother's birthday. Second, it's the day (back
in '96) when I received a beautiful letter from one Essra
Mohawk, along with a fab signed photo. (This was WAY before
I had EVER been online...and I had just "discovered" Essra's
music one or two months prior, and I felt like I had found
the Holy Grail.) Finally, on July 5, 1998, I got to see
Essra perform in her hometown of Philadelphia, and it was a
great show. Essra....since you are into the whole "numbers"
thing, I figured that you'd appreciate this. Love ya.

Almost 3000
years ago, a grieving mother whose child had just died,
brought the small lifeless body to Shakyamuni Buddha, asking
him to bring her child back to life. Shakyamuni instructed
the woman to find a household where there had been no death
and bring to him a mustard seed from that home. The woman
went from household to household until finally she returned
to the Buddha empty-handed. Nowhere could she find a family
where they had not known death. She thanked Shakyamuni for
she finally understood what he was teaching her. There is
nowhere and no time that is free of death. Some must leave
to make room for others being born or life would be
unbearable on this planet. This is an eternal dance. Life
then death then life again. The year 2000 has no monopoly on
death. As we get older it is natural to see more of death.
Remember, Mike,
death is not the end but a change and a time for renewal.

unfairly attacked Soka Gakkai Buddhists in a report on the
internet:

The report blames the SGI for what are essentially problems

the same ones who denounced donations by Buddhists to
President Clinton. They must be stopped! Vote for Al Gore!

WOW!!! Just
stumbled onto this page by searching for Essra...haven't
heard any of her music since back in the 70s in Philly
before WDAS went soul and WMMR wasn't nearly as commercial.
What I wouldn't give to hear some of that music here in
Texas...good morning, freedom. |
